MUSIC DISTRIBUTION

TREND SETTERS DIGITAL

Challenges & Objectives

/ Project Overview

Trend Setters Digital is a music distribution channel built to give independent Ugandan and East African artists direct access to global streaming platforms. Rather than positioning itself as just another local upload service, Trend Setters Digital functions as infrastructure, connecting artists to Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, Audiomack, and other major platforms while keeping the relationship and support local. Its catalog includes releases from artists such as Okot Mark and Rey Macc, positioning it as a distribution partner serving both established and emerging talent across the region.

/ Challenges

Building a distribution channel in Uganda’s music market means competing in a space where digital infrastructure is still catching up to global standards, where piracy and weak copyright enforcement continue to erode artist revenue, and where many independent artists don’t yet see distribution as something worth paying for since informal upload channels feel “free” by comparison. There’s also the challenge of standing out against both international-first distributors with no local presence and low-cost local upload apps with no real industry backing, while proving to artists that proper distribution, royalty collection, and platform relationships are worth the investment.

/ Objectives

The goal is to give independent Ugandan artists a credible, affordable path to global distribution without requiring them to go through a major label, while making sure royalties and platform relationships are handled properly and transparently. Positioning itself through a partnership with an internationally recognized distributor also signals a broader ambition: building a distribution brand serious enough to attract growing, ambitious acts, not just first-time uploaders.

/ The Results

The final product was a visually captivating and functionally efficient design that not only met but exceeded client expectations. The revamped brand identity received positive feedback from users and increased engagement rates by 67%.
